Each year, I challenge you to grow in your spiritual life by reading a book I've pre-selected with you in mind. In the fall, I will gather with those interested to discuss the book chapter by chapter. This is a great opportunity to grow in your relationship with God, connect with other parishioners, and deepen your understanding of yourself and our faith.
Why this book? Every relationship requires communication, which may come naturally to us, but when the other side of the relationship is the Blessed Trinity...it might not feel so natural. "How do I pray?", "How do I hear God's voice?", "I feel like nothing is happening" are common questions at some point we all ask. Fr. Thomas Hacklin and Fr. Boniface Hicks answer these questions in this well developed book.
Personal Prayer: A Guide for Receiving the Father's Love brings the depth of human experience together with the Catholic tradition of prayer to present the path to an intimate and vulnerable relationship with God. Rich with the wisdom of Scripture, Catholic teaching, and the writings of the saints, Personal Prayer is an exhaustive guide for priests, religious, and laity desiring to receive the Father's love in a profoundly personal way.
So, I CHALLENGE YOU to purchase this book, and over the summer take the time to read and reflect on its truths, especially how they are present (or absent) in your life. I will be in touch in the fall about dates to meet to discuss your experience. Enjoy!
