Welcome
Dear Parishioners and visitors to this website,
We are living stones built into a Spiritual House that we call Annunciation BVM Parish here in the Brookline section of Havertown, Pennsylvania. We are living stones that are bound together by the mortar of our common Baptism. As we journey together, the Body of Christ is alive in our midst. It is my hope that this website stand as a testimony of our present and a promise of our future that all we do will be done for God’s greater honor and glory.
If you are new to the parish, welcome! Please take a moment to see some dimensions of our parish life captured in these pages. As all websites are ‘works in progress,’ our site is no different. We have much to offer. If there is a particular question and you do not find an answer here, or would simply like to talk to a friendly voice, please give us a call.
I look forward to meeting and to talking with you so that together we may use the Spirit’s Gifts to build up the Body of Christ, the Church.
Sincerely,
Pastor
For more than a century, Catholics of the Brookline section of Havertown had to travel to St. Denis Church one mile away for Sunday Mass. On April 29, 1927 that changed and Father John P. Cahir was appointed the first pastor of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary parish. Having to deal with considerable anti-Catholic hostility, Father Cahir was about to see to the construction of the Church and School building by 1928. Ground was broken for the present Church in 1953 and it was dedicated in 1955.
More to follow....
