An Invitation To Adoration

Adoration

How would you like some more peace in your life? Could you use a little extra inner strength to withstand difficult days?  If you answered “Yes” to either or both of the above questions, we would like to clue you to one of Annunciation BVM’s best kept secrets: The parish has Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament every Wednesday from 7:00 AM until 9:00 PM!

What is adoration? Well, Catholics believe that Jesus is truly present in the Eucharist, and we know He is present in a very special way when a consecrated host is exposed in a monstrance.  Therefore, the simplest answer is that adoration is a visit with the Lord!

When we visit our Lord, He gives us “tools” or gifts that do more than help us to forget our troubles; rather, He changes us so that we can surmount our troubles.  He brings peace to all.  More important, He draws us closer to Him.

Have you heard about adoration, but resisted trying it because you didn’t know what to do if you went? As John Paul II was fond of saying, “Be not afraid.” Some people like to pray—either formally or informally; others like to read spiritual materials, and if you go at 4:45 PM, the veterans will teach you Evening Prayer.  The best time, however, is frequently the time that you spend quietly, so that you are open to the Lord!

Presently, the only commitment that we would ask is that you give adoration a try!  Come before work; drop in at lunchtime; stop by on your way home, or even after dinner—because now you can.
